Maggie Gardiner

Director of Safety and Experience, Chief Nurse, Patient Safety Specialist
Surrey and Borders Partnership Trust

Maggie Gairdner is a Registered General and Mental Health Nurse, and also has a law degree and masters in Health Management. Her experience includes working in a variety of health settings across several different organisations, including: a number of years within secure mental health environments (including the prison service), both adult and children mental health, substance misuse services, as well as overseeing adult and children community health services. She has held a number of senior roles leading service improvement work. Maggie currently works as Director of Safety and Experience/ Deputy Chief Nurse/Patient Safety Specialist at Surrey and Borders Partnership Trust and prior to this, she was Director of Mental Health Services for Working Age Adults.

Maggie’s nursing experience has always been extremely important to her, and this has led to her ensuring that she has always stayed connected both clinically and strategically to her profession.

Maggie describes herself as someone who is passionate about delivering high quality person centred healthcare, particularly for those who are vulnerable. She believes in working in partnership with others to transform services so as to improve the health and wellbeing of those that use them. She has always wanted to do the ‘right thing’ for people using services, their families and carers.

Qualifications: RGN Adult Nursing, RMN Mental Health Nursing, Legum Baccalaureus (LLB) (Hons), Bar Professional Training Course, MA Health Management.
