Reframing NHS Safety Leadership: From Strategy to Systems Change

The HSJ Safety Leaders Exchange returns as an exclusive, closed-door forum for senior NHS leaders to candidly discuss the strategic challenges and opportunities shaping the future of patient safety. Held alongside the HSJ Patient Safety Congress, this year’s Exchange focuses on integrating safety leadership across the system in an increasingly complex, financially constrained healthcare environment.

With the NHS’s 10-Year Plan landing in June and a refreshed national Patient Safety Strategy expected soon after, the 2025 Exchange will explore how clinical leaders can embed safety into long-term system plans — from ICS transformation to hospital-at-home models and trauma-informed care.

Held under the Chatham House Rule, the Exchange is a dedicated space for 100+ NHS leaders from the system and provider levels to come together and explore the key challenges for leading on quality and safety in today’s healthcare environment.

Through attending this event, you’ll find a safe space to share strategic challenges and best practice across board level.

In addition to the mix of visionary panels and interactive discussion groups in the stream itself, you’re welcome to attend the main HSJ Patient Safety Congress plenary keynote sessions and James Reason Lecture on 15th September.
