We’re proud to be celebrating the 15th edition of the HSJ Patient Safety Congress and look forward to welcoming old faces and new to Manchester Central this September. The Congress has become a movement for change and each year we strive to advance practice and developments to benefit patient safety in the day-to-day.
Every year we’re overwhelmed with the new ideas and inspiration that is promoted and shared at this event – and the feedback we receive is that attendees benefit enormously as well. Patient safety is a continually changing field and this annual opportunity is your one-stop shop to get up to date with all of the latest developments.
Working closely with you and our Advisory Board, each year we carefully create a programme of content to cater to senior managers and leaders of teams, as well as frontline professionals. With an array of sessions and activities to choose from, there is an opportunity to create a personalised itinerary which meets your specific learning needs.
If you’ve never attended before, the event is made up of 3 core components to help you access professional development and learning; to build your network and exchange ideas with like-minded peers; and to celebrate the achievements of the patient safety community.
Running across two days, a Congress ticket offers attendees the opportunity to step back from the day-to-day, reflect on patient safety and take back actionable insights that will make a difference. Over the years we’ve put the following core principles at the heart of the Congress planning process, to ensure we deliver a valuable experience for all attendees.
Firstly, this is a conference that puts the patient on an equal platform, with patients and relatives meaningfully involved across the whole programme.
HSJ also prides itself in creating an environment to challenge speakers and colleagues, encouraging all attendees to be open and honest and tackle difficult conversations to ensure real progress is achieved.
And finally, we believe that attending the Congress shouldn’t be a one-way transfer of information - the most worthwhile discussions stem from questions and debate. Get a chance to raise your concerns with our expert speakers to ensure national and local priorities align. Our closing keynote ‘Patient Safety Question Time’ is the perfect chance to challenge our speakers.

The exhibition area is very much the heart of the event and is where attendees enjoy their lunch and coffee breaks – and to network over drinks at the end of day one.
The exhibition offers an opportunity to source solutions for patient safety, meet and network with leaders and experts and to access some fun and interactive features and training to add to your event experience.
You can see more about who is exhibiting at this year’s event here.
On the evening of 15th September, the HSJ Patient Safety Awards take place to recognise safety, culture and patient care in the NHS.
