I have been a psychiatrist for 25 years and in O&G for around 7-8 years previously. I have a strong interest in education (was DME > 5 years) & management (Medical Director for a number of years). I have worked in inpatient services, CMHT, HTT and supported RHSD services in my 16+ years as a consultant psychiatrist. I see my role as a clinician who advocates for staff and patients and strongly believe in the centrality of staff wellbeing (in the widest sense) as underpinning patient safety. Cultures that prioritise staff welfare, psychological safety, engage with patient experience and supportive of open discussion on team improvement supports this drive. I speak from personal experience, what works or complicates and from my experience, possible next steps.
