Suzanne Shale is an independent consultant in ethics, patient safety and leadership. She develops ethical guidance, undertakes research, and provides education and training, for a wide range of public bodies and charities.
Suzanne chaired the NHS England working group that reviewed the incidence of surgical never events and proposed introduction of the National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (NatSSIPs). She has worked with NHS and independent sector health providers, regulators, medical defence organisations, medical Royal Colleges, NGOs, universities and overseas governments throughout the UK, Europe, Middle East, and Asia.
Suzanne is a Non-Executive Director of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, a member of the DHSC Independent Reconfiguration Panel, sits on the Advisory Panel for the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch, and chairs the charity Action against Medical Accidents. She also chairs the London Policing Ethics Panel. Suzanne is Visiting Professor at University College London.
