Rick Iedema is professor and director of the Centre for Team-based Practice & Learning in Health Care at King's College London. His main research interests include clinicians’ interprofessional collaboration and communication, and patients’ involvement in healthcare practice improvement. He has published widely in these areas, with over 250 publications in total among which are seven books. He pioneered innovative healthcare communication improvement methodologies, including video-reflexive ethnography, to enable clinicians and patients to 'innovate from within'. His most recent publications include Visualising Health Care Improvement (2013, Taylor & Francis, with Jessica Mesman and Katherine Carroll), Communicating Quality and Safety in Health Care (2015, Cambridge University Press, with Donella Piper and Marie Manidis), and Video Reflexive Ethnography in Health Research and Healthcare Improvement: Theory & Application (2019, Taylor & Francis, with Katherine Carroll, Jessica Mesman, Aileen Collier, Suyin Hor and Mary Wyer).
