Dr Maureen (Mo) Coombs is a clinical professor at the University of Plymouth. She is a clinical academic nurse internationally recognised for her expertise in end-of-life care and critical care.

During her extensive healthcare career, Mo has held senior clinical practice, service management and academic roles. Mo set up one of the first 24-hour critical care outreach services in Southampton during 2000, and was co-founder of the National Outreach Forum.  

 

Mo has recently returned to the UK after holding the post of professor in clinical nursing (critical care) at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. As part of her role there, she advised on the set-up of critical care outreach services and was a member of the Health Quality and Safety Commission’s Expert Advisory Group for the patient deterioration work stream.
