Jonathan is the founder and chairman of Patient Safety Learning, the charity whose aim is to help protect patients from harm by sharing evidence based best practice and promoting a culture of safety throughout healthcare and social care around the world. Patient Safety Learning was registered as a charity in England and Wales in 2018 and has already published an influential paper, "A patient safe future". 

Prior to establishing Patient Safety Learning, Jonathan was chief executive of Datix, the largest patient safety reporting and learning software company in the world. Jonathan helped to found Datix and grew the business from a handful of hospitals in the UK to a household name in the NHS and significant presence in the USA, Canada, the Middle East and Australia. 

As well as chairing Patient Safety Learning, Jonathan is involved a number of other businesses and charities in fields including healthcare, IT and cybersecurity.
