Prior to obtaining her doctorate from Warwick Business School, funded by the Vice Chancellor’s Special Award, Clare obtained degrees from Bournemouth and Aston Universities. Before completing her PhD in 2015, Clare worked in Air Traffic Services with NATS Ltd (formerly National Air Traffic Services).  During this time, as well as being an operational Air Traffic Controller (Aerodrome), Clare managed and completed several projects including Unit Investigation Procedures, Hazard and Risk Analysis, and Open Reporting. 

Clare’s main area of interest, research and writing is around the subject of relational leadership. this includes blame versus just culture, the importance of constructive dissent and difficult conversations, complex problems, and engaging individuals to work more effectively together.   

Over the past year Clare has been working closely and advising the Doctors Association UK in their campaign #learnnotblame, led by Dr Cicely Cunningham, about just culture, human error and how to deliver the messages.
