Angela Reed currently works as a senior professional officer with the Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for nursing and midwifery (NIPEC). For the last twelve years she has led a range of regional work streams to transform and improve nursing and midwifery practice in Northern Ireland across a number of disciplines. This has included driving change to enable standardisation of data sets for nursing records, setting standards for practice and transformation of the person centred care planning process to adopt a ‘once for Northern Ireland’ approach, frameworks for delegation and supervision in nursing and midwifery and the production of a national framework to support professionalism in practice, to name but a few examples. Her current portfolio covers practice, acute care and ehealth and informatics. From 2011 – 2016 Angela led the collaborative production of the policy framework for nursing and midwifery staffing in Northern Ireland: Delivering Care. She has also been a part of the RCN’s Expert Advisory Panel for Safe Staffing and the Welsh ResINPUT project, exploring the efficacy of tools to determine safe and effective nurse staffing.
